I went for a run at a local junior college. The trails on campus are/were opened to the public, however, I wasn't sure if there would be any cattle that had free range to roam around on the trails. My dog is really scared of cattle and tries to run away. While the cattle will not do anything to me or my dog or run away at the sight of a dog, they glare at my dog and they look horrified. The last time that I ran on the trails on campus was during the summer and there were no cattle there as they were moo-ved to a nearby area. There weren't any cattle today, but I am hoping that the school don't moo-ve their cattle back to these trails for another month and a half...after February 12, so I can run on these trails with my dog without both of us being so afraid of cattle.
While I could have just done my 3.5 mile super hilly trail run with the 1.4 mile long uphill (that I like to train on for half marathon training), I just wanted to change up my scenery. The trail conditions on that run is also not really ideal for my dog's feet. These two trail runs (that I plan to do every week until 10k race week) will still give me the challenging work out that I need while my dog still gets her run in with me. I plan to do my next 10k with my dog.
The 1.1 mile hilly trail that I did...I did the trail faster than I thought even though my legs felt tired from doing the other run right before.
