Week 30: Day 6 - 27 July 2019

  • morning run = 2.59 miles; time = 38:55; average pace @ 15:01

Week 30: Day 5 - 26 July 2019

  • morning run = 3.8 miles; time = 1:00:06; average pace @ 15:48
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I met up with a photography group last night and came home late. I thought I would be fine for a run and I was determined to do a run this morning. I was too tired and it didn't help that it was warm/humid. So I didn't enjoy my run at all.

Week 30: Day 3 - 24 July 2019

  • morning run = 5.06 miles; time = 1:16:31; average pace @ 15:07
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I'm really struggling with the weather. 70 degrees F at 5am this morning and it felt humid. How much longer until summer is over?

We had a brutal summer last year. Too bad I didn't make any blog post of any exercise that I did and made a note of any weather during the summer or at all for all of last year because even though I complained a lot during the late morning and daytime, I don't remember that it was humid at 5am in the summer.

Week 30: Day 2 - 23 July 2019

  • morning run = 4.65 miles; time = 1:08:58; average pace @ 14:49
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I went for a run this morning at 5am. It was already 71 degrees F at that time. It also felt humid to me, so I was melting away. People ask me if I'm training for something and why I'm running so early. Because this is why. To avoid the summer heat. I don't like summer and I hate hot weather.

Week 30: Day 1 - 22 July 2019

  • morning run = 4.19 miles; time = 1:04:50

  • morning run = 4.68 miles; time = 1:14:55; average pace @ 16:00

I had some caffeine yesterday afternoon and it messed up my sleep. I'm on four hours of sleep and of course, it affected my run.

Week 28: Day 6 - 13 July 2019

  • morning run = 5.04 miles; time = 109:26; average pace 13:46
  • morning solo ride = 20.38 miles; time = 2:08:08; average speed @ 9.5 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
My bike friends posted a group ride on meetup and I didn't know until after the fact. It didn't help that they posted the ride after 9pm on Wednesday night after I had already gone to bed and I didn't go online until this morning after 7am (the ride started at 7am). I purposely slept in until the very last minute on Thursday morning before getting ready for work. I had a night photography meet on Thursday night, so of course, I got home late, didn't bother going online and slept in until the last minute Friday morning when it was time to get ready for work. I had dinner reservations at a restaurant who was participating in "DineLA" (restaurant week) and had a special menu. Strangely, I had been to this restaurant before for my birthday and I don't remember dinner being longer than one hour? Anyway, I got home kinda late from dinner and didn't bother to go online. I don't have a meetup app on my phone, so I couldn't simply check when I'm too tired to be on my computer. So I did my own ride after my run.

Week 28: Day 3 - 10 July 2019

  • morning run = 5.79 miles; time = 1:23:35; average pace @ 14:29
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Who needs caffeine or exercise in the morning when you can wake up to a face full of spiderweb with a giant spider still in it?! During the first mile of my run, I ran into a spiderweb that had a giant spider in it. It was mostly dark - it was light enough that I could see the ground and watch my step, so I didn't see the spiderweb from a distance. I saw a giant spider in the corner of my eye as I ran into the spiderweb. Of course, I naturally went into karate mode. I freaked out when I thought my long hair was spiderweb when I felt it on my arm. Then I felt something crawling up my arm and I saw a giant spider, so I freaked out even more. Luckily, the spider didn't take a ride in my hair and I lost it right away, but I found my hair covered in spiderweb when I got home from my run. This is what happens when you run in the dark.

  • morning run = 4.51 miles; time = 1:02:08; average pace @ 13:49

Week 28: Day 1 - 08 July 2019

  • morning run = 4.47 miles; time = 1:08:57; average pace @ 15:25
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I woke up feeling fine, but my legs didn't want to run and felt somewhat sore running on hills.

Week 27: Day 7 - 07 July 2019

  • morning group ride = 27.6 miles; time = 2:07:38; average speed @ 13 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 19.33
Total Monthly Mileage: 19.33
Total Yearly Mileage: 421.74
Total Shoe Mileage: 185.35

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 81.26
Total Monthly Mileage: 81.26
Total Yearly Mileage: 1042.52

I think I got carried away with all the physical activities during these past four days. I felt fine up until I showed for a group ride this morning. Once we started riding, my legs felt sore. I was thinking about this last night that this had been happening every week, everytime I showed up for a Sunday ride, but usually because I overdid it with the speed during a ride on the day before. I'm still going to do a run tomorrow morning anyway. Riding seems a bit harder because both feet never touch the ground (except when you're stopped) so you feel every single hill, including the little ones and the soreness feels worse. In running, you don't feel the little/tiny ones.

Week 27: Day 6 - 06 June 2019

  • morning run = 5.5 miles; time = 1:21:38; average pace @ 14:51
  • morning ride = 30.05 miles; time = 2:51:05; average speed @ 10.5 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
The group ride from this morning was canceled, so I went on my own ride. It didn't matter if it got canceled or not anyway. I would have done my own ride just so I didn't have to listen to someone tell me to drink more water when I already drink plenty. It was overcast during my run this morning, but it was sunny, warm and a little humid during my ride. I wish it was overcast for my ride. I headed out kinda late and I ran out of water by mile 18, but I was glad to have randomly found a convenient store around that time. I got water and gatorade, but I could only carry one bottle during my ride, so I had the gatorade first. I felt powered up for the rest of the ride.

I feel fine now, but I think I will feel sore during the group ride tomorrow. This seems to happen a lot lately.

Week 27: Day 5 - 05 July 2019

  • morning solo ride = 23.61 miles; time = 1:53:07; average speed @ 12.5 mph
  • afternoon hike = 6 miles; time = 2:53:33
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
When your boss gives everyone a four-day weekend instead of making everyone come into work on Friday, day after a major holiday, you go for a ride and a hike. I came home from work late last night (I knew that this would happen too), so I didn't bother to do a run this morning. I originally planned a rest day (today) until I found out Wednesday afternoon that we didn't have to work today. I'm actually glad to have a productive day with a ride and a hike. There was a group ride that was originally scheduled tomorrow morning, but it got canceled, so I'm doing my own ride. This also means that I will get into my car and drive to a different area to run in because I'm not on a time limit.

Week 27: Day 4 - 04 July 2019

  • morning run = 6.03 miles; time = 1:28:19; average pace @ 14:38
  • walked dogs = 2.7 miles total
I forgot to update after playing basketball with some people from work yesterday (don't bother looking for the post because I didn't make one). I hadn't played in ten years. It's a good thing I played with people who were on the same level as I was and not good like me. Normally, I try very hard to avoid hanging out with people from work because I already spend so much time with them at work and I didn't want to see them more than I had to. Being an introvert that I am, I'm trying to be less anti-sociable and stop hiding under a rock.

Since I'm on "holiday" now with a four-day weekend, I have time to do whatever I want today. I was going to do a ride after my run, but laziness kicked in. I don't plan to do a run tomorrow morning (if I do, it would be at 4:45am) because I'll be getting home late from all the Independence Day/4th of July stuff (fireworks). I'll be doing a ride tomorrow after giving myself some time to sleep. I have a lot of time to do whatever tomorrow. I might do a hike tomorrow. I haven't done a hike since May.

Week 27: Day 2 - 02 July 2019

  • morning run = 3.03 miles; time = 3.03 miles; time = 42:39; average pace @ 14:04
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Nothing exciting this time. Just updating this.

Monday, July 1, 2019

Week 27: Day 1 - 01 July 2019

  • morning run = 4.77 miles; time = 1:10:43; average pace @ 14:49
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I saw a shooting star right before I started my run. I was too slow to make a wish or take a picture. I went to bed late (anything after 9:30pm is late) last night and didn't sleep well, so my run suffered. I didn't enjoy it or have fun.
