Week 13: day 7 - 31 March 2019

  • morning group ride = 28.17 miles; time = 2:11:11; average speed @ 12.9 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 17.95
Total Monthly Mileage: 76.98
Total Yearly Mileage: 154.98

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 28.17
Total Monthly Mileage:107.02
Total Yearly Mileage: 317.49

I went on a photo walk with a photography group yesterday morning. I wanted to go for a ride afterwards, but I got lazy and I made an excuse that it was too hot. It probably wasn't that bad.

I went for a group ride this morning. I wanted to go for a hike, but it was hot and I was tired. Again...excuses. Haha.

It really feels like Spring now. I'm really not looking forward to summer. I don't like summer and I hate hot weather. Someone from the photography group said that summer this year would be hot. Oh no. I can't handle another hot summer second year in a row. I thought about signing up for the Long Beach half marathon that will be in October. I haven't signed up yet and I've been putting it off because I don't want to train in hot, crazy weather in July and August (I would have to start training in July). So I don't know which half marathon I want to do...

Week 13: Day 5 - 29 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.2 miles; time = 57:26; average pace @ 13:40
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
My right jaw is still a tiny bit sore, but much better than yesterday.

My back felt fine at work today, but it felt stiff after. I think I need to set up an appointment with my chiropractor soon.

Week 13: Day 4 - 28 March 2019

  • morning run = 3.11 miles; time = 41: 44; average pace @ 13:26
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
So weird. I woke up, did my run, showered, walked my dogs, and got ready for work. I got to work feeling just fine. After I got to work, I got this random pain in my right ear, right temple and the right side of my jaw. It took me 8-1/2 hours to finally realize that this pain came from grinding my teeth in my sleep last night. Normally if I feel soreness/pain as soon as I wake up from grinding my teeth...not after I've been awake for awhile. I hadn't gotten any soreness since 2016 (this time of year during the spring months) which was why it took me awhile to realize that it was from grinding my teeth. Teeth grinding goes away from some people, but it doesn't for other people. I guess it's a good thing that I don't get this kind of soreness/pain regularly, but at the same time, I'm one of those "other people".

Week 13: Day 3 - 27 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.17 miles; time = 59:02; average pace @ 14:09
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Just updating this. That is all. I'm trying to get into the habit of going to bed early because I wake up and do my run feeling tired. I guess I've gotten used to the new time change and my new job/routine since I'm up late - I used to be in bed by 8pm because of my new job.

Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Week 13: Day 2 - 26 March 2019

  • morning run = 3.35 miles; time = 47:39; average pace @ 14:13
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Feeling better this morning.

Monday, March 25, 2019

Week 13: Day 1 - 25 March 2019

  • morning run = 3.12 miles; time = 45:51; average pace @ 14:41
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I woke up this morning with my back acting up. Normally, my back only acts up when I'm stressed out about something. I thought that I lost my wallet yesterday and I called the last place of business that I used my credit card at to confirm if there was a lost wallet. They never answered their phone (I called three times in 30 minutes and no answer). I did find my wallet, but I wasted my time and a trip to the place to find that it wasn't there. I think I was more angry at the fact that they didn't answer their phone than losing/misplacing my wallet. But anyway, my back shouldn't still be sore and acting up this morning. My back normally feels better by the next day and it doesn't affect my sleep. So I don't know why my back was still acting up.

I also need to stop going to bed late. I was so tired and grumpy this morning.

Week 12: Day 7 - 24 March 2019

  • morning run = 2.5 miles; time = 33:33; average pace @ 13:14
  • morning group ride = 20 miles; time = 1:33:11; average speed @ 12.9 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 12.63
Total Monthly Mileage: 59.03
Total Yearly Mileage: 137.03

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 47.5
Total Monthly Mileage: 78.85
Total Yearly Mileage: 289.32

I did a short run this morning. It was basically like a warm up for my morning group ride. I thought about doing a hike or a second run (at a local school track) today, but I was too tired to do either one. I did enough exercise for the day anyway, so no big deal.

Saturday, March 23, 2019

Week 12: Day 6 - 23 March 2019

  • morning group ride = 27.5 miles; time = 2:10:05; average speed @ 12.7 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.3 miles total
First group ride in awhile. But I still have a lot of miles to do if I want to meet my bike goals. I'll have to work on that. I almost didn't make it to the ride. I woke up feeling dizzy and light-headed from being dehydrated because I didn't drink enough water at work yesterday. Most of the time, I actually do okay with my water intake at work, but I was tasked on a certain thing that kept me busy and away from drinking enough. I went to a local grocery store on the way to meet my friends for the ride to get pedialyte because I knew that this helped with dehydration. It really helped and I felt better to go on the ride. I felt a little weird afterwards because I didn't drink enough water during the ride, but I made sure that I had plenty of water throughout the day. I'm feeling pretty good now, so I hope I feel okay tomorrow!

Also, I had some plans earlier tonight. I wasn't expecting to get home so late though. Oh well. I hope I feel okay tomorrow morning.

Week 12: Day 5 - 22 March 2019

  • morning run = 3.03 miles; time = 38:33; average pace @ 12:43
  • walked dogs = 2.7 miles total
Just updating this. That is all.

Thursday, March 21, 2019

Week 12: Day 4 - 21 March 2019

  • morning run = 3.8 miles; time = 53:54; average pace @ 14:11
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Just updating this. That is all.

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Week 12: Day 3 - 20 March 2019

  • morning run - 3.3 miles; time = 48:38; average pace @ 14:44
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I've come to the conclusion that I need to update my blog a little bit earlier so I can go to bed early and this is why I feel like I'm always tired. This is one habit that I need to do: go to bed early, so I can run early in the morning.

Sunday, March 17, 2019

Week 11: Day 7 - 17 March 2019

  • morning ride = 31.35 miles; time = 2:36:39; average speed @ 12mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 17.62
Total Monthly Mileage: 46.40
Total Yearly Mileage: 124.40

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 31.35
Total Monthly Mileage: 31.35
Total Yearly Mileage: 241.82

Laziness almost kicked in and I almost didn't do my ride this morning. Getting started/dressed was the hardest part. After four weeks, I finally got a ride in. Originally, I wanted to ride with a group this morning, but I didn't have a car (I get my car back tomorrow), so I had to do my own ride. Between the rain (so much!) and a new job, I hadn't done a ride in four weeks and I felt a bit out of shape. Running and riding are really not the same! I have a lot of catching up to do if I want to make my bike goals.

Saturday, March 16, 2019

Week 11: Day 6 - 16 March 2019

  • morning run = 5.1 miles; time = 1:13:13; average pace @ 14:21
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total

I feel like I'm always tired. Maybe I need a complete rest day where I do nothing (except walk the dogs) and actually catch up on sleep, but I'm afraid that catching up on sleep will backfire on me and I won't be able to sleep at all for a night. Shouldn't I be used to my new job/routine and the time change by now? It's been four weeks since I started a new job.

Friday, March 15, 2019

Week 11: Day 5 - 15 March 2019

  • morning run = 3.03 miles; time = 39:12; average pace @ 12:56
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Just updating this. That is all.

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Week 11: Day 3 - 13 March 2019

  • morning run = 2.5 miles; time = 35:41; average pace @ 14:16
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Just updating this. That is all.

Tuesday, March 12, 2019

Week 11: Day 2 - 12 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.24 miles; time = 56:49; average pace @ 13:24
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I felt a lot better this morning after sleeping for nine hours. I'm not going to try that again, catching up on sleep during the weekends. I'll just go to bed earlier? Also this time change isn't helping me much though.

Monday, March 11, 2019

Week 11: Day 1 - 11 March 2019

  • morning run = 2.75 miles; time = 38:03; average pace @ 13:50
  • walked dogs = 2.5 miles total
I had an "a-ha" moment about something last night and I was excited for it. Also, while I was busy most of the weekend, I was also able to catch up on sleep. I'm not sure if it was my "a-ha" moment that I was excited about or all the sleep that I caught up on because I wasn't tired and couldn't sleep last night at all. I finally fell asleep.....at 4am. I had one hour of sleep. It's been over 14 hours since I had that one hour of sleep and I'm ready for bed. I did do my run and I thought that I would feel really tired, sleepy and super grumpy, but it wasn't that bad. I hope I sleep well and feel better in the morning.

Sunday, March 10, 2019

Week 10: Day 7 - 10 March 2019

  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 19.62
Total Monthly Mileage: 28.78
Total Yearly Mileage: 107.65

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 0
Total Monthly Mileage: 0
Total Yearly Mileage: 210.47

Updating my blog mainly for the total mileage. I will be getting back on the horse (that has two wheels...my bike) starting next week. Between a new job (no time during the week) and the rain, I'm behind on my bike goals. I'm going to blame the rain.

Saturday, March 9, 2019

Week 10: Day 6 - 09 March 2019

  • morning run = 5.61 miles; time = 1:15:22; average pace @ 13:26
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I felt like I slept okay last night, but woke up and did my run feeling very tired. I felt okay after my run though.

Friday, March 8, 2019

Week 10: Day 5 - 08 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.86 miles; time = 1:01:12; average pace @ 12:35
  • walked dogs = 2.5 miles total
Just updating this. That is all. (I don't actually have anything to say.)

Wednesday, March 6, 2019

Week 10: Day 3 - 06 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.65 miles; time = 1:03:33; average pace @ 13:40
  • walked dogs = 1.4 miles total
I wasn't expecting any thunder and lightning during my run this morning. This was the first time that I did a run while there were thunder and lightning, and it was a little scary. I didn't want to get struck by lightning and die...or get killed by a tree that fell after it got struck by lightning. I survived to live another day. I hope with all the rain that we've been getting this season, it is enough to get us out of a drought. I'm a little bit tired of all the rain. I wish we had a decent amount of rain every year though.

Tuesday, March 5, 2019

Week 10: Day 2 - 05 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.5 miles; time = 1:00:59; average pace @ 13:33
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
So tired. I'm trying to get myself to wake up earlier to prepare myself for the time change (Spring Forward one hour) this weekend. What will feel like 6am will be 7am. I could have started prepping myself a month ago, so it would be all of a sudden. Sucks to be me.

Sunday, March 3, 2019

Week 9: Day 7 - 03 March 2019

  • walked dogs = 2.7 miles total
  • afternoon hike = 3.9 miles; time = 2:25:29
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 16.64
Total Monthly (February) Mileage: 50.11
Total Monthly (March) Mileage: 9.16
Total Yearly Mileage: 88.03

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 0
Total Monthly (February) Mileage: 77.59
Total Monthly (March) Mileage: 0
Total Yearly Mileage: 210.47

I originally had planned to run this morning, but laziness took over. I decided to do a hike this afternoon instead. Because you know...new month, new hike. I almost didn't do that one either, but I did it and got it done. I wanted to do a five-mile hike, but I got frustrated with how muddy/slippery the trail was from the rain (it didn't rain much today, but it was slippery/muddy from yesterday's rain). It was also pretty steep. So much that the trail was literally going straight up and I was practically crawling on all fours. If I wanted to, I could have just sat down and slid down the hill on my butt instead of walking it. I'll try this hike again and do five miles in a few weeks when the trail is dryer, and I have actual hiking trail shoes/boots. The left side of my back is a little sore because I tweaked it when I slipped/fell and the right side has a pinched nerve (sciatic nerve thing...not major pain, just discomfort/mild pain and it seems to act up when I'm stressed out). I scrapped my leg and my hand from slipping/falling, but I think my ego is more hurt than my body.

Saturday, March 2, 2019

Week 9: Day 6 - 02 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.98 miles; time = 1:08:34; average pace @ 13:46
  • walked dogs = 1 mile total
Have I mentioned that while I'm grateful for all the rain that we've been getting, but I'm also getting tired of all the rain? We got a lot of rain in 2016 and I thought that was crazy, but this year has been the wettest. I was able to put in my bike miles during those rainy months in 2016 and I didn't get rained on, even though I avoided a few trails because of how muddy they would get right after rain. This year has been pretty wet and it's killing my bike goals. I also did a lot of runs in the rain. This year has been the coldest. Even though we did get a few very cold days here and there in past years, but not for a whole month or longer. I don't mind the cold weather so much, but I'm done with the rain.

Week 9: Day 5 - 01 March 2019

  • morning run = 4.18 miles; time = 1:00:51; average pace @ 14:33
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I remembered last night that next weekend (10 March) will be Daylight Saving Time (new time change/Spring Forward). So that means that what feels like 6am will be 7am on the clock and I have to start waking up earlier to go out for a run. 7am start for my run is too late if I want to run, take a shower and walk my dogs because I have to be at work by 9am. Right now, it is starting to get light at 6am. I've slowly finally started getting used to my new job/routine, but I guess I'm going to be tired for a little longer until I get adjusted to the new time. I didn't use to complain about the new time change, but maybe because I just recently got a new job and I haven't completely gotten used to my new job/routine just yet.
