Week 13: Day 4 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:10am: trail/road run = 5.03 miles, time = 52:20, pace @ 10:24
Did I mention that I started "running" with my dog, Jubee? I started on Monday this week. She is now nine months old, so it's ok to get her into a running routine. I'd like to get out her for a "run" two or three times a week for a mile to a mile and a half each time, but not on my normal running days. I want to have a running buddy, espcially when I do my long runs or when I'm training for a race of some kind. Since she isn't used to running long distance (two or minutes) consistently yet, I have to alternate between running and walking with her until she is used to running consistently. Also, I think running will help control her energy and "bad" habits at home better. She is chewing on a lot of things that she shouldn't be.

Week 13: Day 3 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:10am: trail/road run = 4.83 miles, time = 50:01, pace @ 10:21
It has been cloudy/overcast during the last two mornings (the sun usually comes out by mid to late morning). As much as I don't like running with an overcast sky because it makes me want to sleep in and be lazy, I should be happy with it. At least, it's not 70 degrees with 90% humidity at 7am.

Week 13: Day 2 - 2013

cardio:
  • @ 7am: hilly trail run = 1.1 miles, time = 12:51, time = 11:41
  • @ 6:15pm: karate = 1 hour
I did karate, but not for a full hour because I helped/assisted during half of the class. I also didn't get a chance to walk before or after class. I got home from work and didn't have the time to walk (I drove to class, so I didn't walk afterwards). In fact, I was five minutes late to class.

Week 12: Day 5 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:15am: trail/road run = 4.79 miles, time = 49:36, pace @ 10:21
I feel like I'm on a runner's high right now. I don't know why. I didn't get enough sleep and I'm tired/sleepy right now. I guess that's a good thing and I hope this will make me deal with annoying/negative people better especially later when I have to go in for work.

Week 12: Day 3 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:20am: trail/road run = 4.45 miles, time = 45:33, pace @ 10:14
I was recently checking the fees for both the Long Beach race (October 2013) and Huntington Beach race (February 2014). Why are long distance races getting so expensive nowadays? The Huntington Beach race just opened registration and even though it's 11 months from now, the cost to participate in the half marathon is $85 and that's the early bird special rate. The Long Beach one was $79 (early bird special) and it's now $90. I don't remember my last half marathon costing that much. I want to do a half marathon again, but I'm not sure with those costs.

Week 12: Day 2 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:15am: trail/road run = 4.51 miles, time = 44:50, pace @ 9:56
  • @6:15pm: karate = 1 hour
    • "warm up" = one mile walk
    • "cool down" = one mile walk
I wish my average pace is the same everytime I run. I can't figure out why I run faster on some days than the other days. I don't feel like I'm putting in extra effort in trying to run faster. Although the weather was cooler (albeit overcast) this morning than Sunday morning. Spring is basically here and while it's unusually cooler than normal at this time of year, we are expecting warmer temperatures. While I do like warmer temperatures when I do non-running stuff, I like to run in cooler temperatures. So I have to enjoy this unusually cooler weather while we have it because it won't be back until Fall or Winter.

Week 11: Day 7 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:30am: trail/road run = 4.45 miles, time = 47:55, pace @ 10:47
Total Weekly Mileage: 15.53
Total Monthly Mileage: 17.70
Total Yearly Mileage: 131.03
Total Shoe Mileage: 123.90

I guess taking a multi-Vitamin B right before a run doesn't make me run faster, so I don't know why or how I was faster on the last few runs.

Yesterday and this morning were overcast. I don't know where the clouds came from, but it was nice to run in dry, cooler temperatures compared to the last two weeks. It was either raining/wet or warm.

Week 11: Day 5 - 2013

cardio:

  • @7:15am: trail/road run = 4.18 miles, time = 42:00, pace @ 10:03
My average pace before this week was 10:30 (minutes/seconds) per mile or slower. I think I have an idea why I'm running faster this week even though I don't feel any different. I started taking a multi-Vitamin B pill five minutes before my run. I don't remember if I did this on Tuesday morning for my run, but before this week, I was taking my Vitamin B pill twenty minutes before my run. Because this was suggested to me by someone from work many years ago. It worked for the first year or so that taking a Vitamin B pill twenty minutes before my run made me faster, but that was awhile ago. I'm not sure if taking a Vitamin B pill five minutes before my run is really making me run faster than how I actually feel, but I'm going to do this for a few more runs to test out this theory.

Week 11: Day 3 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:15am: trail/road run = 3.66 miles, time = 36:05, pace @ 9:52
I had five hours of sleep and I ran at my normal effort this morning. I felt slow and the weather was less than ideal/perfect (in my mind), but how the heck did I run faster? And I ran faster than yesterday's run!

Week 11: Day 2 - 2013

cardio:
  • @7:15am: trail road run = 3.24 miles, time = 33:59, pace @ 10:29
I haven't been running consistently since the 10K race two weeks ago. While my endurance and average pace remains the same, I felt slower for some reason. The weather was less than ideal/perfect (in my mind), but this morning was the first time that I was ok with it.

Now that I got my run/work out done for the day, I can give myself permission to go back to sleep.

Week 11: Day 1 = 2013

cardio:
  • @ 1:30pm - bike ride = 3 miles
I didn't get a work out done at all last week. It's seriously time to get back into it.

I almost didn't want to do anything today. I wanted to go to the post office, but thought that driving would be a very lazy thing to do. I decided that riding the bike to the post office would make me feel better and I could enjoy the nice weather during the ride. I feel better now, so I can be lazy for the rest of the day.

Week 9: Day 7 - 2013

cardio:
  • @6:30am: trail/road run = 2.17 miles, time = 23:24, pace @ 10:47
Total Weekly Mileage: 2.17
Total February Mileage: 51.07
Total March Mileage: 2.17
Total Yearly Mileage: 115.50
Total Shoe Mileage: 108.37

So far, the only work outs that I've done this week were one bike ride (Tuesday), karate (Thursday only), and one run (today). I somehow got sick on Tuesday and when I wasn't working, I spent my free time sleeping. I purposely missed karate yesterday, so I could sleep before going to work. I'm feeling better, I'm just now having a hard time getting rid of my stupid cough.

I went running this morning after getting only three hours of sleep. I gave myself permission to go back to sleep after the run. I was also hoping that the run would get rid of whatever was causing my cough to linger even though it didn't feel like it worked. I also wanted to end the week and start the new month with a few miles.
