- easy trail RUN with one dog = 4.15 miles, time = 51:15, pace @ 12:27
- easy WALK with dogs = 2.5 miles
- bike commute to work = 15.8 miles round trip; time = 1:15:00, pace @ 12.6 mph
While running with my dog this morning, we were followed by a coyote again! Of course, it didn't help that part of my run was in the same area as part of my run from last week. I have two choices now: stop running with my dog in near dense area full of shrubs, bushes, tall grass and trees (which become better hiding places for coyotes)....or don't run with my dog near such areas. I think the coyote from this morning's encounter was the same as last week.
I went to work halfway in my car and then rode my bike for the remainder of the commute (7.9 miles one way). I parked my car at a mall because it was roughly the half way point. There was no way I would be able to get home on my bike before dark, but I knew that I would get back to my car before dark. After being challenged to commute the entire way (19 miles) on a bike, I think I enjoyed the challenge. While I did get my cycling in, I felt underwhelmed and disappointed because I missed out on the best/worst part....riding on the crazy challenging hill which was during the eight miles (technically 11 miles) between the mall and home. Since June 21 is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year with lots of daylight hours, I will start commuting the entire route to work and home on June 14, I think. But I will be looking outside everyday to see when it becomes dark. 15 to 20 minutes may be ok?
