Week 44: Day 4

cardio:
  • road/trail run (@ 6:15) = 2.23 miles, time = 23:59, pace @ 10:18
  • bike ride for errand runs (@11am)  = 2.8 miles total
It was a bit too warm for my liking this morning, but I somehow managed to do well for my run. I think that three week hiatus really did help because the 50 to 60-something degrees temperature doesn't seem to affect my pace (that I usually do) too much, although I still prefer below 50 degrees tempeture. I think I was more bored than I thought I was afterall (before the hiatus).

Week 44: Day 2

strength training:
  • pilates (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
Feeling so lazy, but made it to pilates. I'm trying to make myself go to pilates every week. If I'm going to stop going to gym after July, I want to remember a lot of the exercises from pilates so I can do them on my own time. I probably won't remember anything from yoga though.

Week 44: Day 1

strength training:
  • yoga (@ 12pm) = 1 hour
cardio:
  • bike ride to/from yoga + some errands = 5.34 miles total
  • karate (@ 7pm) = 1 hour
So much for a regular weight/strength training routine at the gym. I think this is because my gym membership is coming to an end soon (expires on July 31) and I don't think I will be renewing it, so it's making me less motivated to do anything else at the gym besides yoga and pilates. In a way, I just don't want to go to the gym anymore. Perhaps if I was to sign up for a race, particularly a half marathon, I may be a bit more motivated?

Week 43: Day 7

cardio:
  • trail/road run (@ 6:10AM) = 3.31 miles, time = 33:26, pace @ 10:06
Total Weekly Mileage: 5.48
Total Monthly Mileage: 16.84
Total Shoe/Yearly Mileage: 259.15

This three week running hiatus has made me feel so much better about running. I felt kinda slow, but I felt so much better than three weeks ago. The temperature was in the low 60s thought I still preferred below mid-50s, but it still felt so nice to run in it.

This morning was the first time in a month that wasn't overcast/cloudy. That means no more June Gloom. I'm not looking forward to the rest of summer because that means it will warm up later. I don't like running when the temperature is above mid-60s.

Week 43: Day 5

cardio:
  • bike ride = 1.4 miles round trip
strenth training:
  • yoga (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
I was riding the bike on my way to yoga class when at 3/4 mile, I realized that I forgot my yoga mat. Instead of just going straight to the gym for yoga and used the mats that the gym provided, I turned around and went back home to pick up my YOGA mat. I wanted my mat and I wanted a yoga mat for the class. The mats at the gym aren't very good for yoga....too small/short and moves around too much. Yoga mats are more ideal for yoga and pilates because they stick to the ground so you can do your moves and you can do your exercise properly/beneficially without the mat moving around on you.

When I got back home, I didn't have enough time to get back on the bike to ride to the gym. So I took the car. At least, I still got a light warm up done.

Week 43: Day 4

cardio:
  • road/trail run (@ 6am) = 2.17 miles, time = 24:00, pace @ 11:04
Finally decided to get out for a run when I felt ok. It was time to get off of hiatus anyway.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Week 43: Day 3

cardio:
  • karate = 2 hours
    • first (beginners) class = 7pm to 8pm
    • second (intermediate) class = 8pm to 9pm
I didn't go to the gym this morning even though I was "well" enough to go, but I was in a total crappy mood with people for the things they did or didn't do. I don't know if going to the gym and taking it out on the weights would have helped, but I'm feeling a bit better now that I've spent the majority of my day alone.

Anyway, I went to karate training. I was wearing my GI (karate uniform), but not my belt. I usually wait until I get to class to put on my belt. A 10 year old kid was just standing around and looking at the students who were waiting for class, thought that I was wearing my belt and got excited that I was a black belt. The fact that he just assumed that I was a black belt made me smile. Thanks for the vote of confidence, kid!

Week 43: Day 2

cardio:
  • bike ride to pilates + errands = 7.2 miles round trip
strength training:
  • pilates (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
I'm debating if I want to go to yoga tonight. I'm not 100% sure or 100% motivated, although I'm kinda am. I won't be riding the bike to yoga though since I really don't like the idea of riding in the dark afterwards.

Week 43: Day 1

strength training:I slept terrible last night and I don't know why. I think I was asleep, but I also felt like I was awake at the same time. So I didn't bother to work out this morning because I felt blah and couldn't get my mind into it.

Saturday, June 18, 2011

Week 42: Day 6

cardio:
  • karate = 2 hours
    • first (beginners) class = 12pm to 1pm
    • second (intermediate/advanced) class = 1pm to 2pm
So now that I took two weeks off from running, let's hope that I have the motivation to run tomorrow morning.

Friday, June 17, 2011

Week 42: Day 5

strength training:
  • yoga (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
So now that I'm feel like I'm sleeping better by making myself go to bed at 10pm-ish, I'm going to make myself get back into my regular work out schedule...starting on Sunday.

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Week 42: Day 3

cardio:I washed my car this morning, but I'm not sure how to categorized that kind of "exercise". My room is clean mostly...now I need to clean out and re-organize my closet.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Week 42: Day 2

strength training:
  • pilates (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
Debating if I want to go to yoga this evening. I probably won't because I kinda don't want to. Debating if I want to go run tomorrow morning. I'm still thinking about it because the weather has now been getting kinda warm in the morning and we don't have June gloom anymore. Whatever happen to June gloom??

Monday, June 13, 2011

Week 42: Day 1

cardio:
  • karate (@ 7pm) = 1 hour
I cleaned out my room during the day...can I count that as my daytime work out since it involved walking back and forth between my room and outside (for trash), bending down, bending up, lifting/carrying stuff, pushing a vacuum around, moving stuff around, etc? I'm going to count it.

Saturday, June 11, 2011

Week 41: Day 6

cardio:
  • karate = 2 hours
    • first (beginners) class = 12pm to 1pm
    • second (intermediate/advanced) class = 1pm to 2pm
Nothing to say today...

Friday, June 10, 2011

Week 41: Day 5

strength training:
  • yoga (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
Didn't take the bike out for yoga. It was too cloudy and cold, and it looked like it was going to drizzle on me. I needed to put gas in my car anyway.

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Week 41: Day 2

cardio:
  • bike ride to/from pilates + some errands = 5.34 miles

strength training:
  • pilates (@ 9:30am) = 1 hour
I did some minor errands after pilates. I almost didn't want to do them because I would be showing up in my exercise clothes and pilates/yoga mat on my back, but I figured going right after pilates would be the best time to do errands when I had the most motivation and I wouldn't in the place of businesses for too long anyway. I wouldn't have had the motivation to go this afternoon. I got a few looks because I showed up in all my exercise gear, but I get weird looks from people when I park (or pick up) my bike at the gym. So whatever.

Week 41: Day 1

cardio:
I've come to a conclusion that the cause of me feeling unmotivated to run or do any other sorts of execise in the morning is the fact that I don't go to sleep at a reasonable time. Because I insist on listening to the radio until 11:30pm or so, I don't get enough sleep and I don't feel rested which causes me to feel unmotivated. If I want to get out and get my exercise/run on at 6am, I have to act like an old person and be in bed by 10pm. I should know this because I always tell myself to go to bed early and I'd feel better about running/exercising in the morning. I still think that I need to take a break from running for a week.

Sunday, June 5, 2011

Week 40: Day 7

cardio:
  • road run (@ 6:30am) = 4.85 miles, time = 52:00, pace @ 10:43
Total Weekly Mileage: 11.36
Total June/Monthly Mileage: 11:36
Total Shoe/Yearly Mileage: 253.67

I think it's time that I take a break from running...at least, for a week. I know that I'm not overtrained because I only run three times a week and don't total more than twelve miles a week. Even though I don't enjoy running in slightly warmer tempurature, I don't enjoy running (in general) anymore and I think I'm getting bored. Waking up in the morning is fine for me, but it's getting harder and harder to drag myself out the door for a run. Getting out the door is harder than waking up and getting dressed. Having my running clothes ready, next to my bed and getting dressed doesn't even help.

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Week 40: Day 6

cardio:
  • karate = 2 hours
    • first (beginners) class = 12pm to 1pm
    • second (intermediate/advanced) class = 1pm to 2pm
Did some katas and some techniques in the second class. Sometimes it's nice to do something different once in awhile.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Week 41: Day 4

cardio:
  • hilly trail run (@ 6:10am) = 1.1 mile, time = 14:06, pace @ 12:49
    • warm up/cooldown = 1.1 mile (each way)
I really wasn't in the mood to run this morning and I don't think the weather had anything to do with it this time. I felt ok before I headed out, but I struggled with the warm up and walked a bit. I usually don't like taking walk breaks during a run or warm up. At least, I was continuous during the hill run this time and didn't take a "breather" (complete stop/break for a minute or so) at all like before.

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Week 41: Day 3

cardio:
  • trail/road run (@ 6:50am) = 3.18 miles, time = 34:29, pace @ 10:51
  • karate (@ 7pm) = 1 hour
I've been feeling lazy for the last few days. There was no karate training on Monday and the YMCA was closed because of the holiday. The gym was opened though, but I wasn't motivated to go there on Monday morning. I wasn't feeling very motivated to go yesterday either.

I almost didn't feel like running this morning either because I was feeling lazy. One of my runner friends on facebook mentioned this morning that today was National Running Day and this helped me get off my lazy butt for a run. I felt much less lazy once I started running and I felt so much better when I finished!
