Week 22: Day 5 - 31 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.07 miles; time = 1:09:45; average pace @ 13:45
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I had a little more than seven hours of sleep last night and I woke up feeling tired this morning. I had less sleep the night before and I was more awake yesterday morning. I think I need to split up my rest days.

Week 22: Day 4 - 30 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.18 miles; time = 1:06:26; average pace @ 12:49
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
When I make myself have rest days and I eat before a run, I do better, even though I only slept six hours last night. I need to work on sleeping seven or more, so I'll feel okay during my runs.

Week 22: Day 1 - 27 May 2019

  • morning run = 6.84 miles; time = 1:37:21; average pace @ 14:13
  • morning solo ride = 33.00 miles; time = 2:40:21; average speed @ 12.4 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.7 miles total
Since today is Memorial Day and I didn't have to work, I had time for a longer run at a different area and a ride. Sometimes I need to change up the scenery for my runs, so I don't get bored for looking at the same things/areas all the time.

I originally had planned to do a ride before work tomorrow morning, but I think I will just take a rest day and walk my dogs instead. I think I got a little overambitious with all the exercise that I did today.

I've been doing "Week 20: on my blog posts. Whoops, I'm on "Week 21", going on "Week 22" (tomorrow).

I checked the weather forecast yesterday. The forecast called for lots of rain today. I was going to do a group ride this morning, but it got canceled last night due to rain. I checked the weather again this morning. Mist and drizzle on and off all day today. There was no call for lots of rain. It was okay, I wanted to go on my ride anyway. There was some light mist/drizzle during my ride, but it lasted a few minutes.

Week 21: Day 6 - 25 May 2019

  • morning run = 3.3 miles; time = 49:02; average pace @ 14:51
  • morning group ride = 27.7 miles; time = 1:59:50; average speed @ 13.9 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I woke up tired and not wanting to go out for a run this morning, but told myself that I would feel better afterward and I did. I seem to be doing better on my rides? Or it's just for today's ride...

It's supposed to rain tomorrow. I hope it doesn't. If it does, I hope it's in the morning and it's not windy in the afternoon, but what are the chances?

Week 21: Day 5 - 24 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.31 miles; time = 1:10:12; average pace @ 13:13
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I made myself take two rest days in a row. Since I gave myself permission to have a rest day yesterday, it was hard to take my dogs out for a walk. In total, they got less than one mile of walking. If I didn't have to work, I would have probably slept the day away. It was cold and overcast with a little bit of rain during the day. That kind of weather makes me sleepy and very lazy. Even though I had been very good last year and this year about running in overcast weather. Normally, I would have just slept in instead of going for a run. I told myself that it was better than hot and humid weather.

Week 21: Day 2 - 20 May 2019

  • morning run = 4.53 miles; time = 1:06:32; average pace @ 14:41

Just updating this...that is all.

Week 20: Day 7 - 19 May 2019

  • morning run = 4.52 miles; time = 1:04:42; average pace @ 14:18
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 15.07
Total Monthly Mileage: 47.49
Total Yearly Mileage: 293.30
Total Shoe Mileage: 56.91

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 27.70
Total Monthly Mileage: 141.16
Total Yearly Mileage: 615.80

I've decided not to do a ride this afternoon after all. I checked the weather forecast last night and it called for 15 to 20 mph winds in the afternoon. I didn't want to ride with that kind of winds. I like light/calm winds, preferably none. So I went off with my original plans for the afternoon.

Week 20: Day 6 - 18 May 2019

  • morning group ride = 27.7 miles; time = 2:00:40; average speed @ 13.8 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.7 miles total
I think I'm caught up on sleep and ready to get back to running without feeling grumpy. I took two days off (Thursday and yesterday) from running/biking, but this also made me super lazy about walking my dogs. They got less than one mile of walking in for each day. I was originally going to do a solo bike ride tomorrow morning, but the weather calls for rain in the morning and then partly sunny/cloudy in the afternoon. I already have other things to do in the afternoon. These other things don't technically involve being sociable, so if I think they are not that important, I can skip/cancel them so I can do a ride in the afternoon and a run in the rain in the morning. But I don't know.

And during the ride today, someone called out my name. They were doing their own ride with other people. How do people recognize me from a ride, but I don't recognize them? Apparently, I'm very bad at recognizing my bike friends during rides. This was the second time, second ride, that someone called out my name while I was doing a ride with some people and they were doing a different ride...and I have no idea who they are until after the fact or after the ride.

Week 20: Day 3 - 15 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.22 miles; time = 1:16:12; average pace @ 14:35
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I think I need to take a break from running for a few days. I think it's safe to assume that I'm a little burnt out right now. A little achy/sore, always tired and I'm not having fun. Anytime I had to stop for any reasons (stop light, etc) during my run this morning, I would linger on the corner a little longer before pressing the pedestrian button and continuing on. Maybe it is from running too many (five) days a week because I knew that I shouldn't run that much. Also maybe because I had been waking up super early to run. I feel like I don't have enough time in a day. I've actually been doing okay going to bed early so I can wake up feeling fine for my run.

Anyway, I'm doing a ride on Saturday and another ride on Sunday, but I think I'll take the rest of the week of from running and won't do another run until next week.

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Week 20: Day 2 - 14 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.33 miles; time = 1:16:19; average pace @ 14:19
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I felt okay this morning for my run. Now I just need to remind myself to take it easy and don't run so many days a week.

Week 19: Day 7 - 12 May 2019

  • morning group ride = 27.6 miles; time = 2:13:56; average speed @ 12.4 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
  • afternoon hike = 4.1 miles; time = 2:06:12
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 20.67
Total Monthly Mileage: 32.42
Total Yearly Mileage: 278.23
Total Shoe Mileage: 41.84

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 55.3
Total Monthly Mileage: 113.46
Total Yearly Mileage: 588.1

Lately, I've been running five days a week. I need to cut back and run four days a week. I felt fine yesterday after doing a run and a ride in the same morning, but I felt sore during the ride this morning. I was running five days a week in November and December, and then I had to cut back because I was randomly feeling sore. I was going through some emotional things at that time. I don't know why I'm running five days a week lately...I think it's because I'm kinda bored and I can't really pick whatever running/riding/hiking schedule that I want because of my work schedule. I was doing hikes and rides during the week afternoons and late mornings, but that's somewhat hard to do with my current/new work schedule. Doing a hike on a weekday before or after work is a big maybe in June and July. Doing a ride before work (maybe after work) is more doable in June and July. Anyway, I was going to do a ride tomorrow morning before going to work, but I decided to take a rest day instead and just walk my dogs.

Week 19: Day 6 - 11 May 2019

  • morning run = 3.8 miles; time = 53:31; average pace @ 14:07
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
  • morning group ride = 27.7 miles; time = 2:07:10; average speed @ 13 mph
Just updating this...that is all.

Week 19: Day 5 - 10 May 2019

  • morning run = 2.5 miles; time = 35:18; average pace @ 14:07
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
My run went fine actually even though I slept miserably. During the night, I had a really random pinched nerve type of pain in my right leg/hamstring. I don't know why I had this randomly in the middle of the night. My leg is fine now.

Thursday, May 9, 2019

Week 19: Day 4 - 09 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.07 miles; time = 1:10:19; average pace @ 13:52
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Something happened with my charity page. It was working fine before and now I'm getting an error. When I request a password reset, it asks for a username, but it doesn't ask for an email address in case I forgot what my username was. I know which email address I used to create an account, but I think I don't know what my username is because when I typed in what I thought was my username (it would say "email sent" if I used the correct username or it says "unable to reset password" if I used the wrong one). Oh well. I don't care anymore.

Tuesday, May 7, 2019

Week 19: Day 2 - 07 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.11 miles; time = 1:09:38; average pace @ 13:37
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I went to bed early last night, so I woke up and did my run this morning feeling better. Yay for sleep!

Monday, May 6, 2019

Week 19: Day 1 - 06 May 2019

  • morning run = 4.19 miles; time = 1:03:14; average pace @ 15:05
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I always keep telling myself not to stay up so late if I don't want to wake up tired for my morning runs. I guess 9pm is okay, but 10pm is not if I want to run at 5am! I stopped a few times during my run and I didn't have fun. So either I take a rest day (tomorrow) or go to bed at 9pm.

Week 18: Day 7 - 05 May 2019

  • morning solo ride = 30.46 miles; time = 2:31:41; average pace @ 12mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Running:
Total Weekly Mileage: 21.17
Total Monthly (April) Mileage: 90.81
Total Monthly (May) Mileage: 11.75
Total Yearly Mileage: 257.56
Total Shoe Mileage: 21.17

Cycling:
Total Weekly Mileage: 58.16
Total Monthly Mileage: 58.16
Total Yearly Mileage: 532.8

I knew that I should have eaten something before doing my ride this morning, but I didn't and I ran out of energy halfway through the ride. I'm still glad that I made it home though. The last time that I did the 30 mile ride, it was on the same route and my average speed was 13.1 mph. So food (fuel) definitely helps. I don't know why not eating for one ride is okay (like yesterday....), but I don't have enough energy to last the entire distance for another ride of similar distance.

Week 18: Day 6 - 04 May 2019

  • morning run = 3.3 miles; time = 48:21; average pace @ 14:39
  • morning group ride = 27.7 miles; time = 2:07:55; average speed @ 13 mph
  • walked dogs = 2.7 miles total
Today was the first time that I fell off of my bike during an actual ride because I couldn't unclip fast enough at a stop for fear of crashing into my friends. I was behind my friends so they didn't see me fall off and crash into the street. However, we were at a busy-ish intersection and everyone in cars watched me. They all came to me asking if I was okay. I have a scrapped elbow and bruised leg, but I think my ego is more hurt than my arm and leg.

Friday, May 3, 2019

Week 18: Day 5 - 03 May 2019

  • morning run = 5.09 miles; time = 1:09:55; average pace @ 13:44
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
Don't forget to make a donation on my charity page!

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Week 18: Day 3 - 01 May 2019

  • morning run = 3.36 miles; time = 47:23; average pace @ 14:06
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I was going to do a ride this morning before work, but changed my mind and did a run instead. Maybe next week on a day that I feel like walking to the post office (I have a PO Box rental there) so my total steps for the day can be over 15,000 (between walking my dogs and the post office). I had an appointment to donate blood after work, so I didn't walk to the post office today. As much as I don't like summer and I hate hot weather, I think I'm sorta looking forward to riding in the summer on days that I have to work like early in the morning. Mornings seem to work for me better than the evenings after work. Because it always only seem windy in the evenings and late afternoons while it is calm in the mornings. Besides, I'm more of a morning person when I get some kind of exercise that requires a lot of energy in the morning to start my day. Even though I'll be even more tired because I'll be running at 4:30am to avoid the hot sun at 6am.
