Week 29: Day 6 - 2013

cardio:
  • (@ 8am) trail run = 5 miles, time = 55:46, pace @ 11:09
  • (@ 12:15pm) karate = 1 hour
    • 3/4 mile (warm up) bike ride to class
    • 3/4 mile (cool down) bike ride after class
I really didn't enjoy my run this morning. I was so hot and uncomfortable. I should have gone earlier. I hope I can wake up early tomorrow morning so I can go running at 5:30am.

Week 29: Day 4 - 2013

cardio:
  • (@ 8:10am) trail/road run = 4.6 miles, time = 49:10, pace @ 10:41
It was a cloudy/overcast/semi-rainy day. For July and in the middle of summer, that's a bit strange. There was a little drizzle, but not enough to make me soaked. For once, I'm finally ok with running when the sky is cloudy/overcast because I told myself that it's ok to run later in the morning even if I end up drowning in sweat.

Week 28: Day 2 - 2013

cardio:
  • (@ 7:45am) = hilly trail run = 1.1 miles, time = 14:09, pace @ 12:52
    • warm up = 1.1 miles
    • cool down = 1.1 miles
I slept in (I was really tired) and went running later than I wanted to. I knew that I would feel better for doing a run. I did my run on a very challenging hill that I hadn't been on since February. I know that by running on challenging hills, it would help me build back my endurance and speed. I hadn't done this challenging hilly trail for so long that I was really out of shape for the steepest/challenging part of the trail. I was breathing so heavy that my throat and lungs were hurting. My legs were also hurting from the climb. I had to stop and rest at the top of the steepest part of the hill to catch my breathe. It was so hard. I know that if I keep trying with running on this hill, I will get better.

Week 27: Day 7 - 2013

cardio:

  • (@ 6:40am) trail/road run = 5.35 miles, time = 1:00:06, pace @ 11:14
I just recently signed up for the Los Angeles "Frozen Hot Chocolate" race and I'll be doing the 10K (other people can do the 5K if they prefer). It's in September, so it'll be a great training "run". It'll also be a good way to stay motivated with my half marathon training. On top of that, I'll get rewarded with frozen hot chocolate at the finish line and I get a cool running sunglasses in my goodie bag.

week 27: Day 4 - 2013

cardio:
  • (@ 8am) bike ride = 14.22 miles, time = 1:07:14, pace @ 12.7 mph
I enjoyed the fact that there were less traffic/cars out because today is/was a holiday (4th of July Independence Day).

Week 27: Day 2 - 2013

cardio:
  • (@ 6:40am) trail/road run = 4.46 miles, time = 50:13, pace @ 11:16
I almost didn't want to go run this morning, but I'm glad that I went and got it out of the way. I was somewhat unmotivated and lazy, but I feel better now.

Week 27: Day 1 - 2013

cardio:
  • (@ 9:30am) bike ride = 7.15 miles, time = 36:04, pace @ 11.9 mph
I start "semi"-training today. My running has been sporadic as of late and I need to build my running base (which won't be that hard) before I officially start my training on July 15. Training is going to be hard this summer because I work late at night and I have to run early in the morning to avoid the summer heat. I do all of my running outside because I don't have access to a treadmill, but I can't do treadmills for various reasons anyway.
