I had originally planned to do my own ride today, but I saw the weather forecast that called for 12-15mph winds. I decided that it would be better if I did a ride with my friends because I would feel less angry. How can I get mad at the weather when I'm with people who are just happy to ride and be with good company?? Second group ride since Covid/pandemic started. I really miss riding with my friends.

Week 44: Day 6 - 07 November 2020

  • morning run = 5.41 miles; time = 1:15:37; average pace @  13:59
  • indoor ride = 4 miles; time = 17:22; average speed @ 13.8mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
I had originally planned to do an 80 mile ride with a friend today, but it rained this morning. While it did rain, why did we only get rain for two hours? Why not more??? So I went for a run instead. I was starting to think that the weather forecast was wrong because it was partly cloudy with no rain for a long time during my run until it finally started to rain lightly and then it started pouring at the end of my run.

Last weekend, I moved my mat and rollers a little bit farther away from the wall because I needed to learn not to rely so much on the wall. I saw online to use your core/hips to correct yourself when you were about to fall off your rollers. So after I moved my mat and rollers, the mat looked flat, but probably really wasn't which caused my rollers to be noisier/louder than usual when I did a ride on rollers a couple days ago. It's less noisy/loud now that I've fixed my mat.

Week 44: Day 4 - 05 November 2020

  • morning indoor ride - roller training = 6 miles; 23:55; average speed @ 15.1mph
  • walked dogs = 2.6 miles total
My rollers were so noisy this morning. The last time that I did a ride on my rollers and it was noisy, my back tire was leaking/losing air. I couldn't handle the noise anymore and didn't do my usual 10-11 miles. I think my rollers don't like the new tires that I put on my bike....or there is something wrong with my rollers. Not that I know what is wrong with my rollers if there is something wrong.

You know you're having a good day doing your own ride when you get to see your friends doing similar rides...during your ride. When I did this same ride two-ish months ago, I indirectly joined a small group of three guys who let me ride their wheel and draft (I was going to a follow-up appointment with my bike fit guy at that time). I had similar riding abilities as them so I was able to keep up with them. I found them today and this time they had three more guys with them, but I couldn't keep up with them on certain sections of the ride because of the headwinds. Now I know where and when they meet up if I ever choose to do an 80-mile ride with them that they do every Sunday.

So today, I had another follow-up appointment with my bike fit guy and I hope this is the last one. I think we've finally found a solution to the pain in my left foot. Today was the first long, flat ride where I didn't get any pain in my foot...some discomfort, yes, but no pain to the point that I had to stop and massage my foot. Now the real test is doing a ride with 3,000+ feet in total elevation (I have the most issues with this type of ride).
